When should you engage a tax specialist?
We support a number of accountants and lawyers on a regular and ongoing basis, working in a similar manner as an "in-house" tax expert. Other advisers engage us for one-off assistance.
Ideally, we become a first point of call, including where:
they encounter a tax issue that is complex, unusual or material
a transaction is being contemplated, and the tax issues need to be addressed from the outset
a client is subject to a tax audit or review, and support is required throughout the process (including technical positions, penalty and interest remission, or voluntary disclosures)
formal advice is required that must be technically robust and defensible
