Accounting often focuses on the past, providing historical data and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. On the other hand, financial coaching focuses on the present and the future, helping you as a business owner make informed decisions and achieve your financial goals. While accounting is essential for record-keeping and tax purposes, financial coaching takes a more proactive and hands-on approach to financial management.
Financial coaching looks forward and can include creating a budget, implementing cashflow management strategies, forecasting, and goal setting with the aim to empower business owners to make sound financial decisions and achieve their financial goals.
The financial coach works closely with you, as the business owner, to understand your specific needs and tailor a financial plan that aligns with your objectives.
The coach provides guidance, support, training, and accountability, helping you gain a clear understanding of your finances and develop a plan for achieving your financial goals. Depending on the reporting undertaken by the internal team, there is often a gap between managing the current state of the business finances and looking forward and planning the financial performance of the business.
We package the services into a monthly retainer - the pricing depends on the level of coaching you would like. For example, setting up a budget, forecast, and a monthly 1-hour meeting may be as low as $1,000 (plus GST) per month. However, having longer or more strategic assistance may require more time than this.
The services may include:
Establish budgets, forecasts and cashflows for the business
Monthly meeting to report on the financial performance and to discuss the forecast and any changed circumstances or strategies
Other regular or ad hoc meetings to discuss your key financial decisions i.e. a new hire, marketing spend, sponsorship so we can help you work through the ROI and impact on your business plans
Tax planning and strategy
Workshops and meetings regarding business improvements that may help your financial position
